Interior Motives is a comedy game show: comedians look at a stranger's bedroom and guess their gender, sexuality, age and where they live. The show gets thousands of room submissions, and the team has to pick a handful for each episode.
This is a sandbox version of the dashboard the show uses to sort through them. It looks and works like the real thing, but it's filled with fake data: the rooms, faces and answers are AI-generated people from a home version of the game, so no real submitter's data is in here.
Things to try
- Search by vibe. Every room was tagged by a vision model for style, mood, palette, tidiness and objects. Try
plants, goth, messy, or stack filters: bisexual + usa + posters.
- Blind mode (👁) hides every name, face and answer, so a producer can judge the room alone.
- Gallery and board views. Score rooms, star photos, and drag rooms from Inbox to Selected to Aired.
- Collections are episode buckets. Open one, then export its photos as a ZIP or its contacts as a CSV.
- Ownership checks. Mark a room verified or flagged before it can air, and see who hasn't signed the T&C.
Under the hood
Vanilla JS, no framework. In production it's an Express API on Supabase Postgres + Auth: form intake from Fillout and Google Forms, a resizing image proxy with a three-tier cache, AI room tagging as a background sweep, free-text gender/sexuality normalization, resubmission de-duping, and a consent-email flow. In this sandbox, a small in-browser shim stands in for the API.
Built by Joe Waine. Unofficial portfolio sandbox, not run by the show.
